SANDRA GODDARD - ANNUAL MEMORIAL EVENT

In July 2022 we had the first memorial  event at Rottingdean Windmill  with an art show entitled "Up on The Hill" - The event was over 2 weekends and we had about 600 visitors! There were dances from Chanctonbury Ring Morris Men, Ditchling Morris, The Knots of May and Brighton Morris. We also had performances from the London Hardanger Group, Lewes's Short Story Cabaret plus Shanties from Homeward Bound!  As well as many other singers and performers who came along on the days. In the windmill there were 12 Sussex artists and craftsmakers, including Mimi Butler, Illustrator and Michael Gates, Strawmaker.   To close the proceedings we had the magical Bald Knobbers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGeR-S9aq_Y  and music from The Crucks https://www.facebook.com/TheCrucks/ .    The event was also featured in Downland, a short film by Ben Hammond https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEVnn7I6LeA&t=6s

In July 2023  we held the second musical and art event at Rottingdean Windmill with an art show "Six Under Sail" on 22nd & 23rd July, featuring 6 women artists from Sussex. This was followed on Weds 26th July by a Morris dancing picnic and folk singing outside / inside the mill. The event concluded with Brighton Folk Choir and Brighton Bees Mouth Choir having a shanty and folk sing-off inside the mill, due to the rain.   Musicians from Lewes Folk Club also played some folk tunes at the Woodland Burial Ground in Woodingdean that weekend to remember her.

In July 2024 we will be holding another arts and music / performance event at the Windmill - Follow our insta for updates  https://www.instagram.com/art_rovers/
